You never think it could happen to you....

Or to those you love....

On the morning of 1 December 2009, my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Robert, along with 4 yr old Steven-their first grandchild-awoke to the most terrifying reality anyone can dream of-their home was on fire.

As it spread rapidly, my Uncle Robert woke everyone up and made sure they were all out of the house.  Moments later, the Battle Creek Fire Department and Rescue Squad were on the scene.

The teams broke into action, ensuring everyone was okay-even the animals.

A cat, which was believed, at the time, to be deceased from smoke inhalation was saved due to a new oxygen mask implemented by the BCFD specifically designed for our four-legged family memebers.

The Battle Creek Enquirer posted this story under the local news section, and now, this family needs the help of the community in which they've grown up in.

Robert and Kathy both grew up in Battle Creek, with Robert attending St. Joseph Catholic Church and Lakeview High School.

Please help them now, in their time of need!
